ecology education

I love leading workshops and education programs for students of all ages - garden clubs, scout groups, library programs or school enrichment. Every program can be completely customized.

School Gardens

Create your own outdoor classroom! We can design, build and maintain a new garden or learn the ecology of an existing garden. Whether it’s for pollinators or produce, we’ll get growing together!

Sustainable Produce Workshop

Hone your vegetable growing skills by learning to do it sustainably. With minimal cost and maintenance, sustainable food production at home combines organic farming methods with smart adaptations from ancient, local traditions. We’ll cover raised bed types, suppliers, inputs, maintenance, irrigation, pest control, soil structure and timelines.

Orchids 101

Demystify the enigma that is the orchid! Bring in your plant and we'll go over repotting, watering, fertilizing and most importantly - how to get it to bloom again! Perfect one-on-one or as a group or club event. Repotting supplies are provided - you bring the orchid.

Butterfly Garden Curriculum

Best for K-5th grade, this multi-session workshop leads students through planting a garden for native butterflies and observing their lifecycle. Meets DESE life science standards and includes MCAS practice for grades 3-5.

DIY Miyawaki Forest Workshop

What is a Miyawaki Forest? Why are they getting planted? Should I plant one? How?

We’ll go through the basics of Miyawaki Forests and how to get started on your own!

Winter Sow Workshop

Learn about native plants, their relationships with wildlife and how they grow in nature. Brief overview of the different species offered and the method for winter-sowing. Each participant brings home a pot of a winter sown native. Available November-February.

Monarch Butterfly Lifecycle Workshop

Learn all about the stages of the life cycle, milkweed and Monarchs, the five generations, the great migration, the evolution of ecosystems and culture (Día de los Muertos), and seed ball activity. Perfect for scout groups or elementary students.

What is Native? Workshop

Identify what plants and wildlife are native to our area and what that means for our ecosystem. How do non-native species impact us and the natural world around us? How have creatures adapted to the changes in their habitat? What are invasive species and their part in our local ecology? Great for students 3rd grade + and adults of all ages!

Native Plant Gardening Workshop

This interactive program includes the basics of native plant gardening, design ideas and maintenance principles. Perfect for garden clubs, conservation groups or older students.
